Context
Housing Plus is a progressive social enterprise that provides affordable community housing and services to the Central West and Western regions of NSW. Their mission is to empower people in communities through purposeful accommodation, integrated support services, and achieving social justice.

The Brief
As part of Housing Plus’ triennial external governance review, Conscious Governance were commissioned to identify where governance processes and decision making could be further refined. A key emphasis was on better understanding of how to be even more strategic, and enhance the strategic focus of board decision making.
The approach
Conscious Governance analysed all relevant governance, strategy and risk processes, conducted in-depth interviews with all directors and the CEO, and provided a series of highly focused recommendations for the board to consider and implement.
Results
The board has reaffirmed the focus of the board sub-committees and have implemented a number of techniques to assist directors and senior staff to have an even greater strategic focus.
